Grief Counseling & Therapy

Finding A “New” Normal

Grief arrives in many forms. Sometimes grief arrives immediately after the death of a loved one. Other times it’s delayed for months or even years by the shock and disbelief of losing someone you love. Grief can also come in the form of anticipation, when you or someone you know has been diagnosed with a terminal illness.

When you experience a devastating loss, you may feel stuck and unsure about what to do, confused about how to go on. Others around you may seem to be coping better, going through the grieving process faster, or handling things in a different way. Grief can leave you fatigued, restless and unable to eat or sleep, and intense feelings of longing, guilt or sadness may appear unexpectedly and wash over you like waves.

Therapy and counseling doesn’t "cure" the grieving process. But if you’re feeling stuck and unsure what to do next, it can help you find a new "normal." We can’t “fix it,” but we can give you the tools to help you cope. Counseling will help you deal with feelings of loss, recognize what you still have, and help you establish a new kind of relationship with the loved one you lost. So when you’re ready, you’re able to move forward with your life. In your own time, at your own pace.
