About Our Team
At St. Mary’s Birthplace, we have an expert and compassionate team of nurses and physicians who have years of experience in caring for moms, babies and families. Put simply, the Birthplace has the expertise you need when you need it most:
Board-certified Obstetricians. A board-certified Obstetrician is on the Birthplace floor 24/7, ensuring that no matter when your baby is born, a trained specialist is here to assist with your labor and delivery.
Skilled, highly-experienced registered nurses. Most of our registered nurses have 20 or more years of experience with deliveries. They have assisted in thousands of births, ranging from simple to the most complicated. In addition, they are continually updating their certifications and gaining a fresh perspective. Many of them are even Certified Breastfeeding Educators
(CBEs) — and a few of them are even Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs).
Physician sub-specialists. St. Mary's Birthplace is the only medical facility in the region staffed with two Perinatologists, or specialists in Maternal/Fetal medicine. In addition to being certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, our Perinatologists are specially trained to care for high-risk pregnancies and births.
Neonatal experts. If your baby needs special care after delivery, the Birthplace is right next door to our Newborn Intensive Care Unit. Our colleagues there have developed the region’s only Level III NICU, which is staffed by highly-trained Neonatologists and a staff of compassionate nurses with extensive training in caring for our smallest babies.
