24-Hour Access to Experts
Before you know it, the “big day” will arrive
— that moment when you welcome your precious new family member. Although a doctor can roughly predict an expectant mother’s “due date,” most births are still one of life’s joyfully unpredictable events. When your child does decide it’s ready to enter the world, the Birthplace has the expertise you need when you need it most.
By choosing to give birth at St. Mary’s Birthplace, you are choosing a facility with extremely experienced medical experts available to care for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week:
A board-certified Obstetrician is always on the floor. Because a Obstetrician is in attendance on the Birthplace floor 24/7, no matter what time you arrive at St. Mary’s, there will always be a trained specialist on staff to assist with your labor and delivery.
Our nursing staff is extraordinary. The Birthplace has extraordinarily experienced nurses: most of them have 20 or more years of experience. These knowledgeable nurses have assisted in thousands of births, ranging from simple to the most complicated labors.
We have sub-specialists on staff. St. Mary's Birthplace is the only medical facility in the region staffed with two Perinatologists, or specialists in Maternal/Fetal medicine. In addition to being certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, our Perinatologists are specially trained to care for high-risk pregnancies and births.
Other specialized services are available if you need them. Right next to the Birthplace is the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. With the only Level III NICU in the Northland as our partner, the Birthplace can promise you that if there is a complication, your newborn will receive immediate attention.
From the moment you enter the hospital to the moment you head home with your newborn, the Birthplace will be committed to providing you with the utmost care and expertise — no matter what time of day or night you arrive.
